APPG on detention

All Party Parliamentary Group on detention
The newly-formed APPG on detention will be formally launched on 25 June, and now has a website, twitter handle and mailing list. Secretariat support is provided by Medical Justice.

About: The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Immigration Detention brings together over 30 parliamentarians from across the political spectrum who share concerns about immigration detention in the UK.

The group aims to increase the level of knowledge within Parliament about detention and its impacts. It offers MPs and Peers opportunities to debate issues with relevant experts from outside Parliament, including people with lived experience of detention, as well as lawyers, medical professionals, academics and representatives from non-profit organisations.

Using the information gathered through its work, the APPG will advocate for evidence-based reforms to immigration detention policy, and for the welfare of detainees.

Membership of the APPG is open to UK parliamentarians only. If you are a parliamentarian interested in joining the group, please email the secretariat. If you are an organisation or member of the public that would like to stay up-to-date with the work of the APPG, you can join our mailing list.’
